Wet chemical fire extinguishers
Wet chemical extinguisher products, or foam from extinguishers, will vaporise from the heat in cooking fires, but the gentle application of a wet chemical solution via a mist type nozzle and extended lance creates a layer which starves the fire of oxygen. The entire contents of the unit should be deployed to help cool the solution and prevent reignition.
What is a wet chemical fire extinguisher used for?
Spraying a wet chemical mist onto the fire via a lance to suppress the flames, wet chemical fire extinguishers are crucial in fighting Class A, B, and F fires. These fire extinguishers are ideal for use on fat or oil fires in cooking environments as they avoid splashing and spreading the liquid.
Wet chemical extinguishers have a yellow panel and can be used as a Class A fire extinguisher, Class B fire extinguisher, or a Class F extinguisher.
It’s important to note that not all wet chemical fire extinguishers will be suitable for B Class fires, so be sure to check the front label on the extinguisher, or consult your extinguisher provider.
